The 3rd Generation Audi e-tron light up emblem is the only light-up emblem specifically engineered for the Q4 e-tron, Q5 e-tron, Q6 e-tron, and Q8 e-tron — the four Audi electric models where the ACC radar sensor is positioned directly behind the front grille badge.
Unlike the 1st and 2nd Generation LED emblems used on conventional Audi models, this 3rd Generation version uses the same clip-fit mounting system as the factory stock emblem — designed from the ground up to sit flush over the radar sensor aperture without obstructing it.
The result is full animated LED illumination with complete radar-transparent performance — no warning lights, no reduced ACC function, and no interference with emergency braking detection.
✓ Why the 3rd Generation is required for these models: The Q4, Q5, Q6, and Q8 e-tron all have the radar sensor mounted immediately behind the front badge.
The 1st and 2nd Generation emblems (used on petrol/diesel Audi models) have a different mounting system that does not align correctly with the e-tron badge clips and cannot preserve the radar aperture.
If you own the original e-tron / Q8 e-tron (2019–2023), see our e-tron Hollow Style emblem here.
Audi e-tron Light Up Emblem Key Features
- 3rd Generation radar-transparent clip-fit design — uses the same mounting clips as the factory stock badge, sitting flush over the ACC radar sensor without obstructing it. No warning lights, no reduced ACC function.
- Dynamic animation sequence — flashes 3 times then remains continuously illuminated while driving. Activates automatically on lock, unlock, and ignition start. No app required.
- Fits Q4 e-tron, Q5 e-tron, Q6 e-tron, and Q8 e-tron — all four Audi electric SUV models with rear-badge ACC radar (2021–2025).
- OEM clip-fit installation — removes and replaces like the factory badge. No adhesive tape required — the same clip mechanism used by the stock emblem holds it securely.
- Pure white LED output — clean white illumination matching the e-tron’s factory LED DRL and headlight colour temperature.
- Two colour options — White chrome (OEM-matched) and Gloss Black.
- Waterproof housing — rated for all-weather exterior use. 10,000+ hours working life.
- Two-wire 12V connection — connects to DRL or headlight circuit. No VCDS, no OBD adapter, no coding, no dealer visit required.

Wiring Guide
Red wire (positive): Connect to the DRL circuit, headlight circuit, or taillight circuit.
Do not connect to the brake light circuit — brake light voltage spikes will damage the emblem.
Black wire (negative/earth): Connect to any body earth point in the front of the car.
Recommended for all e-tron models: Wire red to the DRL positive circuit.
The DRL circuit on all e-tron models activates whenever the vehicle is switched on — this gives the most natural always-on illumination behaviour matching factory LED DRL operation.
Frequently Asked Questions — Audi e-tron Light Up Emblem
Why can’t I use the standard 2nd Gen emblem on my Q4/Q6/Q8 e-tron? +
The Q4, Q5, Q6, and Q8 e-tron all have an ACC radar sensor mounted directly behind the front grille badge.
The 2nd Generation emblem uses 3M adhesive mounting and a full-face design that sits over and obstructs this sensor — this can reduce ACC detection range, trigger dashboard warning lights, and affect emergency braking performance.
The 3rd Generation emblem solves this with a clip-fit design that replicates the stock badge’s mounting geometry exactly, preserving the radar aperture while delivering full LED illumination.
Does this fit the Audi Q4 e-tron Sportback? +
Yes.
The Q4 e-tron Sportback (2022–2026) uses the same front grille badge and clip system as the standard Q4 e-tron.
Select the Q4 e-tron variant from the selector above and choose your preferred colour.
Does this fit the Audi SQ6 e-tron? +
Yes.
The SQ6 e-tron and SQ6 e-tron Sportback (2024–2025) use the same front badge clip system as the standard Q6 e-tron.
Select the Q6 e-tron variant and your preferred colour.
Gloss black is particularly popular for SQ6 e-tron owners given the car’s performance positioning.
What is the animation effect on the 3rd Gen emblem? +
The 3rd Generation emblem uses a flash-then-stay animation — the badge flashes 3 times on lock/unlock and when the ignition activates, then remains continuously illuminated while the DRL or headlights are active.
This differs slightly from the 4-sequence animation on the 2nd Gen emblem, but the continuous driving illumination is identical.
No app or remote is required — the animation runs fully automatically.
Will this affect my e-tron’s ACC or emergency braking? +
No — when you use the correct 3rd Generation emblem.
The clip-fit design replicates the factory badge geometry exactly, maintaining the correct clearance and aperture for the radar sensor behind the emblem.
ACC range, emergency braking performance, and blind spot monitoring are all unaffected.
Do not use the 1st or 2nd Generation emblems on these models — only the 3rd Generation is radar-safe for Q4, Q5, Q6, and Q8 e-tron.
Does this affect my e-tron’s driving range or battery? +
No.
The emblem draws 2W at 12V from the auxiliary battery — completely separate from the high-voltage drive battery that powers the electric motors.
The current draw of 0.1A is equivalent to a single small LED bulb and has no measurable impact on driving range, charging speed, or battery management.
White or Black — which finish suits the e-tron models best? +
White chrome matches the factory badge finish on standard Q4, Q6, and Q8 e-tron models and looks completely OEM when unlit.
Gloss black is the most popular choice for SQ6 e-tron and SQ8 e-tron owners, and for Q4 e-tron owners with the Black optic package — Audi offers a Black optic package on the Q4 e-tron that includes black exterior trim with black Audi rings and badges, making gloss black the natural matching choice.
Both produce identical pure white LED illumination when active.
Does this require any coding or a dealer visit? +
No.
The emblem connects to the standard 12V DRL or headlight circuit using two wires.
No VCDS, no OBD adapter, no module changes, and no dealer visit are required at any point.
The installation is fully reversible — the factory badge can be refitted using the same clip points at any time.
